I have thoroughly enjoyed being the representative for our district since 2006. I thank you for giving me this opportunity to help lead our community in an even better direction. I really want to hear from you, complaints and all. Together we truly can make a difference. Please contact me with your thoughts and ideas at lisa@betterbrookfield.com or 780-0805

· Sunnyslope Path: The city will be installing a pedestrian/bike pathway on the east side of the road within the city owned Right of Way from James St. to the first entrance of Bishops Woods just south of Bluemound. They will install a stretch on the west side of the road by Mary Knoll Park only. Sunnyslope is not planned to be widened, but repaved in 2011. The DOT will be improving the intersection of Bluemound and Sunnyslope in 2011 and that is when they will complete the pathway segment all the way to Bluemound Rd. These paths are planned along all arterial roadways throughout Brookfield according to the City Master Plan. The city has been incrementally installing them per a long term capital improvement plan. Please give me a call if you would like more information or have comments and questions on the city’s pathway plan.
· WisDOT proposes changes to Bluemound Road east of Moorland Rd. Some of the proposed changes include turning some streets into cul-de-sacs and eliminating all left westbound turns except at Sunnyslope and Elm Grove Roads. Your district 7 Alderpersons felt many residents may object to these changes. Because now is the time to voice your opinion vs. later (when the construction crews arrive), we scheduled a Neighborhood Information Meeting with the WisDOT project engineers at City Hall last November ‘08. With neighborhood help we were able to blanket the affected area with fliers. A packed city hall was able to effectively communicate their concerns and objections to the proposed changes. Our City Engineer and Mayor shared your concerns and in response to our urging wrote this letter to WisDOT. At the follow-up DOT public information meeting in April we discovered that citizen input did matter because the plans were changed in response to your concerns.
· Traffic Calming Policy: If you would like to slow down traffic in your neighborhood the newly adopted Traffic Calming Policy can help. Please link to the policy to find out more about the education and enforcement components of this initiative or call me if you have questions and want to know more.
· Water Main Extension Policy FAQ’s: If you are currently on well water you will be affected by this policy. The city council adopted a policy in 2002 for a long range plan to connect all properties to Municipal Water. Assessments for a water main hook up can be quite costly. If your home is still on a private well please go to this FAQ link so you are well informed and have plenty of time to prepare. Please note the water main extension 5 year plan is printed annually in the Fall City newsletter that is mailed to your home.
